3 on the tree shifter
Im converting my 53 2R5 to a 289 V8. Hope that made some sense.

. Most of the Bronco houses sell new bushings I believe but I solved the problem by instlling a Duffs 3-speed floor shifter. Jul 29 2009. So not only did I purchase a truck with a manual transmission but I had to stumble upon one with a 3-speed Three in the Tree column shifter.
3 on the tree I have a 1970 chevy c10 with a similar problem i ggreased the fitting on the column under the hood and worked the shifter around a few times and eventually it shifted smooth as silk. And you could get a universal floor 3 speed shifter to replace the column shift. My column shifter is now stuck in 1st gear.

3 on the tree shifter got real tough to move through the neutral gate up and down. The tunnel is dimpled already to take the fixings for the shifter. Just think of the 3 speed pattern turned vertical with the column.

The column shifter was totally shot and made the truck undriveable. Course those cheap aftermarket floor shifters werent much better. Theres a lot of fine tuning and getting the adjustments just right.

The stock shifter fits easily. Shifter on my 71 np435 is no big deal but it of course its in the middle of the tunnel.

I have a 71 Chevelle with a l6 250 with a 3 on the tree 3 speed saginaw transmission. Im sure a few of you are thinking whats the big deal Ive seen lots of cars with column shifts Park Drive Reverse right. I like it a whole lot better than the column shift even when the column shift is working perfectly.
